Tarun Shetty is not your typical comedian. For starters, he considers himself to be just some kid from New Hampshire who is just very, very luck.
For starters, Tarun attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with an MFA in film/television. While in school, he did normal comedian training program things, consisting of working the doors at comedy clubs and passing out flyers on NY streets in exchange for stage time. Along the way he made TV appearances on CMT and Nickelodeon’s Laugh Out Loud.
Things were going so well he got a job in Hollywood writing and hosting for the global program Showbiz India Extreme and later wrote and produced for the television show X-Play on the G4 network. All the while, Tarun established himself as one of the leading commercial print models and comedians in the US.
In 2006, Tarun took everything he learned and started his own production company, which he co-runs called RaisingDesi Productions. To his family and pretty much everyone’s surprise, the company didn’t self-destruct.
RDP currently produces “Desi OC,” the #1 South Asian web series on YouTube, and most recently shot their first feature comedy movie “Bobby Khan’s Ticket to Hollywood,” both starring Tarun.
