Sommore consistently provides her audiences across the country with entertaining comedic relief concerning the realities of everyday life. She tells her story the only way she knows how..... Straight up! With sharp wit and cunning sarcasm, Sommore speaks about the things that most women only think about, but never say.
This veteran of comedy has achieved many accolades and recognition for her quick wit. In 1995, she earned the Richard Pryor Award for Comic of the Year. As a result she was selected as the first female host of Black Entertainment Television (BET) Comic View. She hosted the show for an entire year, which brought her into millions of homes daily.
In 2000, Sommore was selected to be a part of the highly successful The Kings & Queens of Comedy tour. The tour garnered Sommore a wider fan base and got her registered in Guinness Book of World Records as being the first female comedienne to perform before an audience of over 44,000 people in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia Dome; never has a female comedienne accomplished that.
Sommore believes that "Comedy is an expressive art; it's not what you say, it's how you say it." Sommore, views her own comedy as a form of self-expression; it's no wonder why she's been dubbed the new Whoopi Goldberg with make-up. Her views represent the importance of being able to freely express oneself first and foremost, to think intelligently, and to always represent oneself with grace, style and class.
Sarcasm coupled with realism empowers this "Queen" to express her point of view about life. She consistently delivers her message with humor on the reality of this day and time. "Funny is funny regardless of personal differences", explains Sommore. Her hilarious live stage performances are a reflection of her beliefs. Sommore is always ready to tell it like it is whenever a situation demands a candid approach.

Dubbed by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the funniest people alive, Sommore brings her critically acclaimed brand of social commentary to this stand up comedy presentation from Comedy Central. Sommore: The Queen Stands Alone features the Queen of Comedy on-stage extolling her profane and brassy sense of humor in her signature raw form. All topics are fair game for this comic diva, from hip-hop and the N word to relationships and Oprah. Strong and sexy as hell, Sommore brings the house down and will make you shout, Gimme Sommore!
"Hot" is when you got on the latest thing in the stores, right off the rack -- you just hot. Or I could have just got "hot to death." Now, "hot to death" is when you sharp, fly and hot all in one. When you hot to death... if you shall die, when you get to heaven, the angels will take their wings off and be like, "Damn, you was killing them bitches."
You got to be fair. Because I see a lot of stuff going on that's just not fair -- like Vice President Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney shot somebody in the face, and then nothing happened. Nothing happened. Now, am I right or am I wrong, but when President Clinton shot somebody in the face....
