Native American Comedian Jim Ruel has been described as a Native American-Chris Rock.

Jim Ruel is the Native Comedian with smart, edgy comedy. This Stanford alumnus blasts audiences with a torrent of one-liners, impressions, and stories leaving them breathless and wanting more. Jim Ruel is a member of the Bay Mills Band of Ojibwe, who grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He comes from a large mixed heritage family consisting of his mother, a full blooded Ojibwe woman, father, a mix of Irish, German, and Dutch, one brother and five sisters.

His love of comedy developed early on with a standup performance at his grade school talent show inspired by exposure to Monty Python, Mel Brooks movies, George Carlin, and Bill Cosby. At Stanford University he was encouraged by one his professors to pursue his dream of standup comedy as a serious career.
Using the same dogged determination that had made him a successful scholar, Jim Ruel has made sure to place his comedy career on a steady strong progression to the point where now his act is well respected within the standup comedy community.
With over a decade of experience, his career is truly flourishing. Jim Ruel has recently performed at Dartmouth College, University of Wisconsin, University of California - Riverside, Cal State Chico, South Dakota State, and Western Carolina University.
He has also appeared at the Hollywood Improv, the Las Vegas Hilton, the Chicago Comedy Festival. His television appearances include "The World Stands Up" taped live in London, UK, "Clark and Michael," NBC's" Diversity Talent Search" and will be appearing in the documentary "Crossing the Line: Multiracial Comedians" in the winter of 2007 on PBS. You can also catch Jim in the Powwow Comedy Jam's new DVD "Joke Signals."

Get ready for all out laughs Indian style as the brightest and funniest Native American comedians begin a tour that will leave you with One Long Trail of Laughs. This 90 minute stand-up comedy show goes on tour this June bringing stand up comedy from four diverse and original acts (comedians Marc Yaffee, JR Redwater, Vaughn Eaglebear, & Jim Ruel) delivered from the Native American perspective.
This fun and innovative Comedy Group has performed at colleges and clubs all over the country most recently at Isleta Casino in Albuquerque, NM during the Gathering of Nations 2007, where they filmed their soon to be released DVD entitled "JOKE SIGNALS". The group is also currently being featured in a documentary. Hold on to your bellies cause these Native American Comedians are sure to make you laugh!
Jim Ruel - Described as a Native American version of Chris - Rock, Jim combines likeability with an in-your-face style that disarms, charms, and entertains all at once. A featured performer in the 2002 Chicago Comedy Festival, this eater of wild rice has shared the stage with the likes of Dave Chappelle, Lewis Black, Frank Caliendo, Gilbert Godfreid, Dave Attell, and Stephen Lynch.
Vaughn Eaglebear - Eaglebear is a Pow wow master of ceremonies, songwriter and comedian. He remains in demand as a standup favorite for casinos, clubs, corporate and tribal events. "The Cleveland Indians are changing their name so they wont promote negative stereotypes. From now on theyll be known as just the Indians."
Marc Yaffee – Marc continues to win over audiences in the U.S. and overseas with his original brand of "scorched earth" comedy. Yaffee draws from his ethnic back- ground ("Im a Mexican, Irish, Navajo, a mexi-jo") and his current family situation, ("my wife and I home school our kids, because we like to sleep in."). His TV credits include SI TVs "Funny is Funny" and Galavisions "Que Locos."
JR Redwater - His comedy and lectures are based on his life and hardships while growing up on the reservation. He believes that youth are the future and wants to be a positive influence on Native American history, and strives to educate audiences about the true life of the modern Indian.
